The Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum at the Italian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM)
At the invitation of President Giulio Centemero, a hearing was held at the Italian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) featuring the President of the One Water Committee, Maria Spena, and the Director of CIHEAM Bari, Biagio Di Terlizzi. This made a significant contribution to the topic of security in the broader Mediterranean, in light of the current crises in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
It was an important opportunity to bring the content and objectives of the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum to the attention of the assembly, ahead of the 20th PAM Plenary Session to be held in early May in Montenegro. This institutional event helped reinforce a shared vision: water must no longer be viewed as a source of conflict, but rather as a fundamental tool for dialogue and peace. The session also highlighted initiatives within the framework of Italian cooperation that can help build a genuine “water diplomacy,” capable of fostering dialogue among the countries of the broader Mediterranean region.
